San Angelo Lights (sanangelolights.com) is a free holiday service from Mediajaw Web Design in San Angelo, Texas. This page explains what we collect and why. The short version: we keep only what the map needs, we never sell anything, and there are no ads or tracking scripts.
What is public
When you add a display, these things are shown on the map: the address and pin location, the display name, your photos, your dates and hours, the features you picked, the radio station and your notes. Only add an address you live at or have permission to list.
What stays private
- Name and email (both optional). We use your email only to send your private edit link and, if needed, to ask about your listing. We never show them, sell them or add you to a mailing list.
- A scrambled version of your internet address. We store a one-way code made from your IP address to limit spam, to count one heart per visitor, and to count dark reports. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.
Photos
Every photo is re-saved by our server, which removes hidden data such as GPS location and camera details. We resize photos for the web and delete them when you remove your listing.
Stored on your device
Your browser remembers the stops in your route, which houses you have hearted and which you reported dark. This stays on your phone or computer and is not sent to us except when you heart or report a house.
Services we use
- Map pictures come from OpenStreetMap. Your browser loads map tiles from their servers.
- Address search uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. The address you type is sent to them to find the spot.
- Route ordering uses the OSRM routing service. The locations of your chosen stops are sent to it.
- When you open a route in Google Maps or Apple Maps, their own privacy policies apply.
- The site is protected and sped up by Cloudflare, which sees basic connection information.
How long we keep things
Listings drop off the map after their last night and stay saved so you can list again next year. You can delete your listing any time from your edit link, and we delete its photos with it. Hearts and dark reports are kept for the season.
Children
The map is for everyone to view, but listings should be added by adults.
